Technology & Spiritual Health

This course discusses the impact of addictive technology on the spiritual health of individual believers and the Church at large. Students will explore how family ministry and discipleship priorities in the digital age demand the critical evaluation of technology’s effect on children (and adults), the brain, the family, worldview formation, and spiritual growth. This course will provide a Christ-centered framework for building strategies that promote both a unified approach to technology within a church community, as well as flourishing for the individual.

Sarah Siegand

Tech Consultant, Co-Founder of Parents Who Fight and Preserve The Church
Since 2015, Sarah and her husband Jesse have helped churches support parents by training them to protect kids online through their ministry, Parents Who Fight. As mental health challenges from addictive technology became more widely understood for both kids and adults, PWF began to ask questions about the spiritual health impact across generations in our church communities. Knowing that effective discipleship and technology addiction can not co-exist, the Siegands launched a new ministry initiative called Preserve the Church in 2026, with an emphasis on equipping ministry leaders with strategies to shift cultural norms around addictive tech in the Church.

Sarah is a nationally recognized online safety and family tech expert, an author and a speaker. She has faithfully served the local church for three decades in various roles from prison ministry to discipleship and student ministry. She has a BA in Technical Journalism.

Sarah is the mom to two young adult men, and their family calls Nashville, TN, home.
