American History through the Eyes of its Presidents · Washington to McKinley
This course follows America’s growth from an infant republic to an industrial giant, showing how the presidency evolved from a modest office to a more powerful, party-driven, and globally-engaged institution. Students will trace the nation’s increasing democratization, territorial expansion, and struggles over slavery and union through the leadership of presidents from Washington to McKinley. Using key primary and secondary sources, learners will see how the presidency both reflected and propelled America’s rise.
